The city isn’t as well known as its neighbor Destin, but Miramar Beach holds its own with its white sand beaches on the Gulf of Mexico and clear blue waters.
Personally, I prefer Miramar Beach (Regional Beach Access) over most of Destin’s beaches.
Visitors to Miramar Beach can enjoy a variety of activities such as swimming, fishing, kayaking, and exploring the town’s shops and restaurants along the ocean.

Here are some of the best things to do in Miramar Beach! Whether it’s a week-long vacation or just a place to spend your day, this list has you covered!
1. Miramar Beach Regional Access
This Gulf Beach is in the heart of Scenic Gulf Drive and has amazing clear waters and soft white sand.
Spend the day at the beach and soak in the sun while here, or you can do one of the water activities that are offered, including parasailing and jet skiing.
Miramar Beach is a public access and has a big parking lot, but it will fill up, especially between May-August, so come as early as possible.
There are also some parking spots along Scenic Gulf Drive.
Pompano Joe’s Restaurant is right on the beach and there are other oceanside restaurants within walking distance!
James Lee Park is technically in Destin but is another great public beach and is just over a mile away on Gulf Drive.
Amenities here include picnic tables, pavilions, restrooms, and a playground.
2. Explore Baytowne Wharf Village
The Village of Baytowne Wharf is a must-see for anyone visiting Miramar Beach.
This vibrant town center is home to shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as shopping, dining, and watching the sunset over the bay.

3. Rainforest Black Light Golf & Arcade
Rainforest Black Light Golf and Arcade is a great place to have fun and stay active during your visit to Miramar Beach.
This family-friendly attraction features black-light mini golf, arcade games, and a laser maze.
There’s also a snack bar with food and drinks available for purchase. Rainforest Black Light Golf and Arcade is the perfect place to go for a few hours of fun!

4. Take A Ride On Scenic Gulf Drive
Scenic Gulf Drive (also known as Scenic Highway 98) is a beautiful drive with views that runs along the coast of Miramar Beach for about 5 miles.
If you want to escape the Highway 98 traffic for a little while when traveling from Destin to Miramar Beach, this short route takes you along the ocean and past seafood restaurants on the water, condos, and lots of sparkling white Gulf sand.
This route provides stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico and the town’s beaches.
5. Play At Miramar Beach Golf Courses
Be sure to check out all of the different golf courses during your visit to Miramar Beach!
The Links Golf Club Miramar Beach is a must-visit for any golf enthusiast.
This 18-hole course offers a challenging game for players of all skill levels. The club also has a pro shop, driving range, and putting green.
Other popular golf courses in Miramar Beach include Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, Emerald Bay Golf Club, and Baytowne Golf Club.
6. Topsail Hill State Preserve
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is an area highlight for any nature lover. This state park features a variety of hiking & biking trails, camping, fishing spots, and scenic viewpoints.
The park features large sand dunes, which is where Topsail Hill gets its name from!

It’s about a mile walk to the beach from the entrance of the park, but you can take the trolley to and from the beach if you don’t want to take the hike!
If you’re looking for another park, Jolee Island Nature Park is the perfect place to spend a day exploring the natural beauty of Miramar Beach!
This park is home to a variety of plant and animal life, as well as a nature trail. Visitors can also enjoy a picnic in the park or go fishing. There is a playground for the kids to play at, as well.

7. Grand Boulevard At Sandestin
Grand Boulevard at Sandestin is a fun place to visit in Miramar Beach, just a short drive from the rest of the things to do in the city.
This outdoor shopping center features a variety of shops and restaurants, as well as hotels and a movie theater.
There are upscale restaurants here such as Emeril’s and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, and chain fast food such as Jimmy John’s and Starbucks.
Visitors can also enjoy a range of activities such as arts, dinners and shows, live music, festivals, and farmers markets.
The Grand Boulevard Farmers’ Market is every Saturday from 9 am-1 pm and is year-round!

11. Take A Day Trip To Destin
Did you know that Miramar Beach is only 9 miles from Destin? A mere 20-minute drive will give you access to fabulous attractions, including parks with beautiful natural landscapes, museums, beaches, and waterslides.
Destin, the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village,” offers a variety of fun-filled experiences.

One thing you won’t want to miss is the Destin Harbor Boardwalk. Meander down the length of the quarter-mile boardwalk, shop for souvenirs and enjoy eye-catching Gulf Coast views.
When you get hungry, great food abounds. The fresh seafood at the local restaurants is top-notch.
Anglers and history buffs will love the Destin History & Fishing Museum. During your visit, you’ll learn the history of fishing in Destin and discover how it has evolved over time.
You’ll also see historic artifacts, photographs, antique fishing equipment, and fishing boats.
If you’re on a family vacation and love water slides, mini golf, and a sky coaster, head over to Big Kahuna’s Water and Adventure Park.
It has over 40 rides ranging from a 5-story Jumanji slide to Fun Fountain splash pads.
12. Spend The Day On 30A
Another sweet way to enjoy the Miramar Beach area is by spending the day on East County Highway 30A.
This scenic road meanders through cute beach towns and past beautiful beaches with striking vacation rentals.
Pick a few destinations from this list of things to do in 30A, or start driving and see what hidden gems you encounter. No matter what you do, you’re sure to enjoy beautiful scenery.
Airstream Row in Seaside is one of the best places for grilled cheese, crepes, snow cones, hot dogs, donuts, and melt-in-your-mouth BBQ.
Grayton Beach State Park is another excellent attraction off 30A with nature trails and water sports. You might even spot some sea turtles.
If you’re looking for one of the most fun places for the whole family, look no further than The Big Chill.
Although it’s a bit further out (37 minutes from Miramar Beach, Florida), it would work well for lunch or as a stop on your way to or from Miramar Beach.
The Big Chill has multiple dining options, live entertainment, games for kids, and special events.
Spending time here means kids will have a blast while parents can relax and sip a beer.

13. Axes And Ice Cream
What better way to enjoy a unique experience than by pairing axe-throwing and ice cream?
Couples, competitive friends, and families will all have a blast at Gulf Coast Axe House, whether you choose to launch a weapon at a target or simply indulge your sweet tooth.
This delicious ice cream shop has 24 different flavors of creamy frozen delight.
Drop in for a cold treat, or reserve a lane for a bout of axe throwing, ring toss, and mini basketball. Family fun and great customer service make this a perfect spot to stop.
The adventurous will enjoy tasty flavors like key lime pie, cotton candy, and apple strudel. They also have tasty standards like vanilla and chocolate.
Be sure to try their unique ice cream sandwiches. You can get ice cream inside a warm glazed donut or sandwiched between two chewy cookies.
They also have crunchy waffle cones which you can pack with your favorite flavors.
The Gulf Coast Axe House is located in the Miramar Beach-Destin Area, just a couple minutes from Silver Sanders Factory Outlets.
They are open Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 10 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am to midnight, and Sundays from 12 pm to 8 pm.
14. Head On Over To Crab Island
My family and I hit the beach while on our Crab Island boat cruise!
Another awesome place to visit for more things to do near Miramar Beach is Crab Island. At low tide, this submerged sandbar becomes a wild and wonderful watery festival.
Boats flock to the blue-green waters of the sandbar, while visitors and locals wade through the shallows visiting floating venues.
You can visit a snack shop for boiled peanuts, get burgers, hop aboard a general store, nab some hand-scooped ice cream, and splurge on jet ski rentals.
Alternatively, simply float on an inner tube and enjoy the fun vibes, warm water, and gorgeous surroundings.
Crab Island is so much fun! Any trip here is sure to be an unforgettable experience. Beach lovers will have good reason to adore Crab Island.

15. Go On A Sunset Cruise
One of the most fun things to do in Miramar Beach is to go on a sunset dolphin cruise.
Step aboard a luxurious pontoon, then slide through the emerald waters enjoying the sights of Destin Bridge.
Keep an eye out for dolphins and other marine life en route to Destin East Pass.
Then, as the sun sets, you’ll head back toward Destin Bridge to watch the sunset over Crab Island.
You’ll have plenty of time to soak in the sights, take pictures, and enjoy a special moment with your group.
Since this is a private tour, you should feel completely at ease and among friends.
This sunset cruise lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, with about 40 minutes for the sunset.
