Bahia Honda is a beautiful beach in the Florida Keys. It draws visitors with its amazing landscapes and diverse wildlife. If you’re looking for fun activities, you’ll find plenty here.
My family and I recently visited the Florida Keys, and Bahia Honda State Park was definitely one of my favorites. There is some seaweed here, but the waters are crystal clear, and swimmers can go out a ways in the shallow waters.
From sandy beaches for sunbathing to great snorkeling, it’s a paradise. It’s perfect for families, nature lovers, and those seeking adventure.
Let’s explore the natural beauty and fun activities in this tropical paradise.

1. Relax on the Beaches (Calusa, Loggerhead, and Sandspur)
Bahia Honda State Park is famous for its beautiful beaches. Here, you can relax on Calusa, Loggerhead, and Sandspur beaches.
Each beach has its own vibe and things to do. The warm sand and cool ocean breeze make it a great place to get away from it all.
Personal Experience of Serenity
On Calusa Beach, the sound of waves and palm leaves create a peaceful atmosphere. The blue waters are perfect for swimming or just enjoying the view.
We spent a great deal of our time at Loggerhead Beach, which is great for sunbathing or picnics, thanks to its wide view. Sandspur Beach invites you to take long walks and explore nature.

2. Snorkel in the Clear Waters
Exploring the underwater world at Bahia Honda State Park is unforgettable. This tropical gem offers top snorkeling spots in clear waters.
Here, vibrant marine life thrives, and you’ll see brightly colored fish and maybe even sea turtles. Coral reefs are home to many fish, making this place incredibly diverse.

3. Walking the Old Bahia Honda Bridge for Stunning Views
Exploring Bahia Honda State Park offers exciting opportunities. Walking the old Bahia Honda bridge is a must for its stunning views. This iconic bridge is not just a sight to see but also a piece of history.
The bridge was once part of the Overseas Railroad and later the Florida Keys’ Overseas Highway. It’s a key part of the park’s history.
Walking the old Bahia Honda bridge, you’ll see breathtaking views. You’ll also see lush greenery and nearby islands.

4. Explore by Kayak or Paddleboard
For those who love adventure, Bahia Honda State Park is perfect. It offers calm waters for kayaking and paddleboarding.
Perfect for Outdoor Enthusiasts
Kayaking and paddleboarding here means gliding through mangroves and seeing stunning views. You can rent gear right on-site. Take a self-guided tour to discover the park’s ecosystems and wildlife.
What to Expect
On your adventure, you might see dolphins and manatees. Birdwatchers will love the close-up views of various species. Paddling here is peaceful and memorable.

5. Spot Wildlife and Enjoy Birdwatching
Bahia Honda State Park is a great place to see wildlife and enjoy birdwatching. It has different environments, like mangroves and beaches. This makes it a perfect spot for nature lovers.
Best Birdwatching Spots
There are special places in Bahia Honda for birdwatching. The nature trails and boardwalks in the mangrove areas are great for watching birds. We saw many birds right on the beach that were looking for food.
Bahia Honda is a kid-friendly beach. Here, my girlfriend’s son is showing off the coconut he found on the beach.

Conclusion
Bahia Honda State Park is a top spot for many activities. It offers stunning natural beauty and a wide range of things to do.
Visitors can relax on beautiful beaches like Calusa and Loggerhead, or explore the underwater world while snorkeling.
For those who love adventure, kayaking or paddleboarding is a great choice. My favorite parts of Bahia Honda State Park are the beach with crystal clear waters and the awesome views from the bridge.
There is a small fee to enter the park, but it’s worth it, and there’s lots of parking. I recommend getting here early in the day because there seems to be a longer line of cars waiting to enter the park from the highway as the day goes on.
It’s a great beach to spend the day at, and there’s also camping for those who are interested. You can learn about the camping details here.
