If you know me, you know that I love traveling to Florida.  But one thing I like more is traveling to Florida for cheap!

I Spent Just $150 total for 4 Flights and a stay at a 2-Bedroom Resort in Pompano Beach — Here’s How.

Yes, you read that right — five nights in South Florida for just $150 total. I’m talking about 4 flights and a full 2-bedroom resort suite, just a short drive from the beach, not a hostel or budget motel.

Here’s exactly how I pulled it off, and how you can, too.

How I Got Free Flights Using Southwest Rapid Rewards Points

If you’re not already using Southwest Rapid Rewards, you’re missing out.

I’ve been collecting points for years, through a mix of Southwest flights, their credit card bonuses, and everyday spending.

Southwest makes it incredibly easy to redeem points for flights, and the best part is that there are no blackout dates.

I checked prices for an October getaway and found round-trip flights from Minneapolis to Fort Lauderdale for about $220 total.

Instead of paying cash, I used my Rapid Rewards points — around 15,000 points plus $11.20 in taxes.

That’s right — my flight to South Florida cost me just $11.20 out of pocket, for each person.

I’ve used rewards points and miles from other airlines.  I don’t have any affiliation with Southwest.

I just like the perks that Southwest offers, and their points seem to add up faster than those of other airlines.

The only negative for me is that most of the time doesn’t offer direct flights to Florida from Minneapolis, so I generally have to connect from Chicago or Nashville.

How I Got 5 Nights at a Wyndham Resort for $110

Now, let’s talk about the biggest travel hack of the trip — the resort stay.

I got an email from Wyndham Destinations offering a discounted stay in exchange for attending a 90-minute timeshare presentation. I’ve seen these deals before, but this one was hard to pass up:

  • 5 nights at a 2-bedroom resort in Pompano Beach

  • Only $110 total (a one-time cleaning fee)

  • No other charges or taxes

That’s basically a beachfront resort stay for the cost of dinner for two.

I booked the trip for October— right after peak summer season, when the weather is still perfect but the crowds thin out.

The Resort Experience

The resort itself completely exceeded my expectations. It was part of the Club Wyndham family, and my suite had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a balcony overlooking a pond area.

Amenities included:

  • Several resort pools

  • Beach access just a short walk away

  • Free parking and Wi-Fi

  • Washer and dryer in the room

If you’ve ever stayed at a typical Florida hotel for $200+ a night, you’ll understand how crazy this deal was.

About the Wyndham Timeshare Presentation

The only “catch”, and it’s a pretty small one, was attending the timeshare presentation.

It lasted about 90 minutes, just like they promised. The sales staff walked us through the Wyndham vacation ownership system, showing the resorts and point options. They were friendly but, of course, tried to make the sale.

My advice?

Be polite, firm, and clear that you’re not buying today. They’ll give you the full presentation, offer you a few “special deals,” and then let you go.

It really wasn’t bad. I’ve been to more intense car dealerships than this.

Tips for Scoring the Same Deal

If you want to try this travel hack yourself, here’s what to keep in mind:

Sign up for travel rewards programs. Southwest, Delta, and Sun Country all offer points-based systems that can cover flights.

Look for timeshare promotions from major brands like Wyndham, Hilton Grand Vacations, Westgate and Marriott Vacation Club. They’re often advertised as “vacation offers” or “preview packages.”

Always read the fine print. Make sure you understand the presentation requirement and any extra fees (like the $110 cleaning charge).

Go during shoulder season. April, May, September, October are ideal in Florida — warm weather, lower prices, and fewer crowds.

Use your points strategically. Combining free flights with a promo stay multiplies your savings.

Is It Worth It?

Absolutely — as long as you know what you’re getting into.

If you don’t mind sitting through a 90-minute to 2- hour presentation, this can be one of the best ways to experience a high-end Florida resort for next to nothing.

For me, it was an easy decision. Five nights at a 2-bedroom resort in Pompano Beach, beach days, and sunsets — all for less than $150 upfront? Sign me up again.

I didn’t buy the timeshare, but I did get an incredible Florida getaway out of it, and a reminder that sometimes, the best travel deals come from thinking a little outside the box.

Final Thoughts

Travel doesn’t always have to be expensive. With a little planning, flexibility, and creativity, you can enjoy luxury experiences for a fraction of the cost.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to enjoy the South Florida coast, keep an eye out for timeshare promotional offers and start earning flight rewards now.

Next time someone tells you Florida vacations are pricey, just tell them about the time you stayed five nights in a resort for $110.

Safe travels!
